It has been documented that submission feedback given to students is the single most crucial factor for a student’s progress (Brown & Knight, 1994) & (Hattie & Timperley, 2007). Despite this acknowledgement, the feedback given to students’ remains as the lowest scoring category in every National Student Survey conducted since its inception.
MarkIt is a web-based system that allows markers to focus on the feedback comments rather than the grade. This focus on feedback ensures that the emphasis is placed on what is communicated back to the student instead of just focusing on the submission grade.
The system consist of a Java web-service which provides APIs which can be accessed by different clients such as a web system, application or learning platforms such as Blackboard. For the scope of the project only a web application was developed which was implemented in AngularJS.
